Last Fall, Charles T. Brown, MPA, created a new webinar series in partnership with America Walks to provide an open platform for discussion and aid in identifying potential solutions to improve walkability for ALL.

Episode #2, “The Criminal Justice System’s Impact on Walking and Walkability in Low-Income and Communities of Color” will take place on Thursday January 18 at 2pm Eastern, 11am Pacific.

The episode explore the devastating impacts that social injustice within our legal system has had on people of color and low-income communities. Using the text The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander as a framework for the conversation, the panel of experts and advocates will discuss discrimination within our criminal justice system and how it intersects with the work (e.g., Vision Zero, safety outreach and education, equitable enforcement, etc.) being done by walkability advocates.
