On Thursday, May 23rd, NJAIM attended a walkability audit of six selected corridors in Elizabeth. This examination was conducted by the YMCA of Eastern Union County, Elizabeth Branch and Michael Baker Jr., Inc., with assistance from the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center. Also participating in the audit were New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), Meadowlink, Groundwork Elizabeth, the City of Elizabeth, and the Elizabeth Police Department.
NJAIM attended 10 events during the past two weeks of outreach activities. Ambassadors conducted on-street outreach twice in Woodbridge, five times in Elizabeth, and on three occasions in Newark. They also attended a governmental outreach and technical assistance meeting in New Brunswick.

NJAIM attended eight events during the first two weeks of outreach activities. Ambassadors attended five on-street outreach events (three in New Brunswick and two in Edison), two event outreach activities, and one governmental outreach and technical assistance event. Additionally, ambassadors completed Traffic Skills 101, which was taught by the New Jersey Bike & Walk Coalition. Below is a list of each activity and a brief description of the event.

NJAIM season has arrived! Ambassadors attended their first event of the year on May 9 at Island Beach State Park, where the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) released the New Jersey Bicycle Map and Resource Guide. Be sure to keep an eye out for NJAIM throughout the next 6 months, especially while you’re touring the state with the help of NJDOT’s new comprehensive guide.
